Marketing plans for the holidays
Halloween weekend was a fun weekend for my daughter and I. She competed in her first competitive cheer
competition. We checked in with her team
mom and I headed to the stands to find the cheer group. As I passed parents,
cheerleaders, and siblings I enjoyed looking at the homemade Halloween costumes
they were wearing. There was a combination of scary and funny costumes in the
bunch. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the event by acting out their characters.
This
event not only made me think about this "first time event" in my
daughter's life, but I began thinking about my clients' holiday marketing
plans. Two months of intense shopping
and family gatherings are about to be upon us.
Keeping a
combination of traditional and online marketing is going to be important, but
keeping their attention during this busy time is a challenge. Traditionally
businesses will see a drop in social engagement during the holidays. The
businesses that see an increase in engagement have planned some fun contests
and promotional savings options.
Holiday
greetings and fun online contests could keep your current and potential clients
engaged during the holidays. You want to be top of mind so that after the
holidays you are not forgotten as quickly as the beautifully wrapped presents.
Below are
a few ideas you could add to your holiday marketing plans if you have not
finalized them, yet.
1. Thanksgiving recipe contest
2. Thanksgiving meal photo
contest
3. Thanksgiving kid craft contest
4. Turkey dressing contest - photo
contest
5. Essay contest-what you are
thankful for this year

8. Super Bowl party snack recipe
9. New Year's Eve - family

When
planning any contests, make sure that you use a third party app for submissions
and finalizing the winner. Keep in mind
that the main objective should be to build your list and keep your connections
engaged. Give your fans a great reason
to share your posts and reminders.
Plan your message & images, execute your contest, and have FUN! Remember.... this is SOCIAL Media!
All
contests and promotions should be promoted on all social networks. Cross promoting is the one piece many
businesses forget.
Good Luck!
